Waterside houses

This started out unusually — I did the pen-and-ink sketch directly, without any pencil drawing, or even any real plan.

The same sketch with some watercolour added.

I later did another of the same view.

  1. I love this painting…we have a summer place just down the road. I was curious if you considered selling any of your work?

    • I do sell my work, though as I make my living as a web designer, I somehow always end up as the lowest-priority client, so getting my eCommerce site up and going is perpetually back-burnered.

  2. The house in the foreground is (was…they’re both deceased now, and my Uncle Vaughan sold it after they passed in their early nineties).my grandparents house on my mother’s side…Herb and Vesta Hopper. My Mom (now 95) was born here.

    • Thanks for this. You’d be amazed how often I hear from people with connections to the houses or properties I’ve depicted. I rarely have any personal connection to them — I just find them appealing.
