Ultramarine watercolour swatches

Winsor & Newton’s French Ultramarine (PB29) next to a swatch of Daniel Smith’s Ultramarine (PB29). The sketch of the parking lot behind Struts Gallery has had a wash of the Winsor & Newton French Ultramarine applied. Very little granulation. Earlier versions of this sketch in progress.

Waterside houses

Watercolour sketch of houses in Waterside, New Brunswick, from reference photos I took in August, 2016. On 9 ¼ × 6 ¼″ Stillman & Birn Alpha (white/150 gsm) hard-bound sketchbook. I later did another of the same view.

Canterbury Street, Saint John

From a series of reference photos I took in 2015. Pencil, Carbon fountain pen, Pigma Micron brush pen, and watercolour in 5 ¾ × 8 ¾″ Stillman & Birn Gamma (150 gsm) ivory paper. Blocked-in in pencil.
